Our section welcomes racers of all ages and abilities. Truck racing is particularly popular with newcomers and junior competitors, offering an ideal introduction to competitive RC racing. The vehicles are simple, reliable, easy to maintain, and highly rewarding to drive. With low running costs, durable tyres, and excellent value for money, Truck racing provides an accessible route into the world of RC motorsport without requiring a large budget.

The BRCA National Series offers exceptional value, providing competitors with extensive track time throughout the day. Racers can typically expect four rounds of qualifying followed by three rounds of finals, giving everyone plenty of opportunities to compete and improve. Coventry | 1st-2nd August 2026

Report by: Steven Brooke

WOW! Simply WOW! For Round 4 of the BRCA 1/10 Off-road Truck Championships we were back at the increasingly impressive Coventry Model Car Club, on the outskirts of Dunchurch near Rugby. CMCC have worked hard with their landlord and the track and it’s surrounding facilities to continue to improve all the time! The track is large, 100% Astroturf and on an incline so always drains well, not that that would be an issue in the long hot summer of 2026!

As per usual at a BRCA Truck National, Saturday afternoon there’s open practice, and with Race Control running the timing system, handy that!

Sunday, as has been the norm in the Summer of 2026, we were greeted with blue skies, sun and a very dry track, tyre choice was primarily Schumacher Staggers on the front and Schumacher V2’s on the rear for the Stadium Truck drivers, Short Course trucks were seen primarily with Schumacher Mini Pins. Wear rates on all were very good, the layout not really having any high-speed corners.

During the weekend the club and section officials were running a raffle in memory of Simon Guant, who had, quite recently, been lost to cancer. Simon was well known locally and within the Truck National section. Many generous prizes had been donated and one thousand pounds was raised to go to Cancer Research.

9 Heats of Timed Practice with 77 entries started bright and early Sunday morning, followed by four rounds of round-by-round Qualifying.

As per usual, Qualifying would consist of four different classes of 1/10 electric Truck. 2WD Short Course, 4WD Short Course, 2WD Stadium Truck and within that class the 2WD Vintage/Rear Motor Stadium Trucks, basically running to Iconic Revival regulations and limited to 10.5 turn brushless motors. The Vintage/Rear Motor class continues to grow, to the extent that they have their own qualifying heat and finals now!

4WD Short Course qualification, winning all four rounds of qualifying Dan Staite would take pole position for the finals, Ben Baxter would line up 2nd and Lucas Bird 3rd.

With 13 4WD’s the B Final was won by Oliver Swain, winning all three legs, 2nd was Marc Biddiss, third would be Joe Acs.

The 4WD Short Course A Final would see the top three qualifiers all finish in their qualifying order in all three legs, that happens very rarely! Dan Staite would take the overall win, EPR’s Ben Baxter would finish second overall and Lucas Bird would take the third step on the podium.

2WD Short Course qualification was once again taken by the reigning 2WD Champion and winner of the two previous Championship rounds, Jaime Long, winning all 4 rounds, 2nd overall with second places in the last two rounds of qualifying and a faster time was Simon Hall, and 3rd with second places in the first two rounds of qualifying was Oscar Morris.

With 16 2WD Short Course trucks, we would see two different winners in the legs of the B Final, pole sitter Oliver Swain would eventually take the win, 2nd was Richard Birchall and 3rd Daniel Moulds.

The 2WD Short Course A Final would, as per qualifying, be dominated by Jamie Long taking the win having won all three legs of the A Final, Simon Hall would eventually finish 2nd and James Moulds 3rd.

2WD Stadium Trucks Vintage/Rear Motor entries are definitely on the up! 12 entries at this round of the Championships, they would all qualify together in heat 5.

Ben Baxter, having travelled up from Eden Park Raceway, would qualify first, having won the first two rounds, then it’s fair to say he made hard work of rounds three and four. Round three winner, Dave Richards, would qualify second on the grid and round four winner, Jamie Watkiss would take third place on the Finals grid. In the finals, third place qualifier, Jamie Watkiss, would nick the win from Ben Baxter after Ben won the first leg Jamie would win legs two and three to take the overall from Ben in second. Drive of the day and possibly the season, so far, was from Luke O’Neil! Luke basically missed qualifying opting for a very long lay-in rather than racing, so would start from 12th for the final. Three great drives culminating with a runner-up spot in the final leg would see Luke take the 3rd podium place!

With Ben Baxter, from Eden Park Raceway, finishing second and taking the extra point for TQ, Ben’s Championship total now gives him an unassailable lead in the Championship and with that the title of BRCA Truck National Vintage/Rear Motor Champion 2026. Ben can’t make the next round at NDOR so will be going all out at Tiverton to try and achieve the perfect score of 4 TQ’s and 4 wins.

2WD Stadium Trucks had 36 entries, the top two would have a day long battle for the top spot, both in qualifying and in the finals, they were clearly in a class of their own! Those two being current Championship leader, Tony Bishop and one of the leading contenders, Kit Jones. Kit would win the first round of qualifying, after Tony made just one error. Tony came back to win the next three rounds and took pole position in the A Final. Kit would, not surprisingly, line up 2nd and a remarkedly consistent Jamie Long would that the third spot

The D Final was won by Martin White having won the first leg, 2nd overall was Marc Birchenough, winner of the second and winner of the third leg, Darcie Rayner, would finish 3rd, same points as Marc but he had a better leg 2 winning time.

The C Final was won by Will Wheatley having won the first two legs, Andy Bird would finish second overall having won the third leg. Third on the podium would be John Fotherby.

The B Final legs were shared by Toby Broughton and Adam Boffey with Toby winning the first and third to take the overall win, Adam winning the second to help him secure second overall. Third podium place would be taken by Callum Moore.

And finally, to the A final, and it did not disappoint! The class of the ST field, TQ man Tony Bishop and second on the grid, Kit Jones, raced hard and close for all three legs. Kit beat Tony by 0.41sec in leg one, Tony beat Kit by 1.31sec in leg two and Tony would secure the overall win by beating Kit by 0.59sec in the third and final leg, close, very close in all three legs. Third on the podium would be Jamie Long.

Boughton, Norfolk | 13th – 14th June 2026

Report by:    Steven Brooke / Tony Bishop

The BRCA 1/10 Off-road Truck Championships, Round 3, were held at Boughton Raceway in Norfolk in the middle of June, the track is large with a flowing layout and man-made jumps, the layout was the same as last year but run in the opposite direction.

As is the norm with the Truck section, practice started Saturday 12 noon, in dry sunny weather, but with a strong westerly wind. The Truck section trialed running the open practice as 1 practice heat with all drivers in it, so laps times could be viewed on the rc-timing website, and it was deemed to be a success.

Sunday, we awoke to clear blue skies, with the forecast to remain dry, but a much lighter wind than the previous day.

At Drivers Briefing we held a minutes silence for Simon Guant who had unfortunately lost his battle with Cancer the previous weekend, Simon had been a large character within the Truck National scene and will be greatly missed.

9 Heats of Timed Practice with 74 entries started at 8.25am Sunday morning, followed by four rounds of round-by-round Qualifying

As is the norm these days, Qualifying would consist of four different classes of 1/10 electric Truck. 2WD Short Course, 4WD Short Course, 2WD Stadium Truck and within that class the 2WD Vintage/Rear Motor Stadium Trucks, basically running to Iconic Revival regulations and limited to 10.5 turn brushless motors.

4WD Short Course qualification was taken by Mark Everitt, 2nd was Dan Staite and 3rd was, one of the group of drivers from Eden Park Raceway, Shareef Qureshi.

With 15 4WD’s the B Final was won by Haiden Hicks, winning legs 1 & 3, 2nd, having won leg 2 of the finals, was Phil Birchall and 3rd was Marc Biddiss.

The 4WD Short Course A Final had great wheel to wheel battles throughout all three legs, Mark Everitt would take the overall win, winning Legs 1 & 2, 2nd would be Dan Staite after winning the third leg and last place on the podium would be Ben Baxter.

2WD Short Course qualification was taken by the reigning 2WD Champion and Round 2, at Surrey and Hants, winner Jaime Long, winning all 4 rounds, 2nd overall was Round 1, at A1 Raceway, winner Mark Everitt and 3rd another former champion, James Moulds.

With 15 2WD’s, we would see three different winners in the legs of the B Final, John Yarham JR, Daniel Moulds and John Yarham SNR but eventually the B Final was won by Daniel, 2nd was John SNR and 3rd was Sebastian Birchall.

The 2WD Short Course A Final would have the same top 3 as qualifying, with Jamie Long winning all 3 legs ahead of Mark Everitt in 2nd and James Moulds 3rd.

2WD Stadium Trucks Vintage/Rear Motor

6 entries at this round of the Championships, they would all qualify together in heat 5.

Ben Baxter, another driver from Eden Park Raceway, would qualify first, from Luke O’Neill and the Truck Sections very own, Stuart Carling third, Ben would have qualified 18th overall within the modern class. In the finals Ben would win the first two legs to take the overall win, with Luke 2nd overall after winning the third leg, and Dave Richards finishing 3rd.

2WD Stadium Trucks would have 38 entries, Round 2 winner, again at Surrey and Hants, Jamie Long, would take TQ with 2 round wins ahead of Tony Bishop and Alan Wheeldon who both would take a round win each, but it was very close with less than a second covering all 3 on their fastest run times. Junior Michael Halsey would make his Truck National A Final lining up 5th on the grid.

The D Final was won by Mark Kilsworth taking all 3 legs from Martin White 2nd and Chris Hampson in third.

The C Final was won by Andy Bird taking legs 1 & 2 from Rich Hipkiss 2nd after winning the third leg and Dave Griffiths 3rd overall.

The B Final was a close-run affair, the top 3 would all win a leg each, Charlie Hall won overall with his 2nd place in leg 1 and  1st in the third leg, 2nd Adam Boffey after winning the first leg and 3rd Steve Bunning after winning the second leg.

The A final, and it did not end well for pole man Jamie Long, on the other hand, Tony Bishop would win all 3 legs to take the overall, with Alan Wheeldon 2nd and Keith Halsey nicking 3rd place on the podium.
